Biography:
Working as a software engineer at various Fortune 500s, Emre was looking for a way to avoid his commute and stay physically active to counter the effects of sitting behind a computer all day. Having prior experience in Judo and growing bored of lifting weights and running with no particular goal in mind, Emre started as white belt with Professor Marcos in 2008 when our organization was still known as the Heights Jiu Jitsu Club. Very quickly, Emre recognized the immense possibility for personal growth through the honest self-appraisal Brazilian Jiu Jitsu provides in sparring and competition. Having no natural talent as an athlete but going on to medal at the world championships, in addition to winning many other IBJJF weight-class and open weight titles, as a purple belt (2nd place) and a brown belt (3rd place) is testament to the ability of this sport to bring out the best in people. One of the greatest rewards of having walked the path is to help others do the same, so now Emre teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu while still working as a software engineer. "
