Biography:
Danny started training Jiu-Jitsu on the suggestion of my coworker (Emre). At the time, Danny was overweight and out of shape. Danny had issues with self-image, terrible social anxiety and that led a very unhealthy lifestyle. His life revolved around work and was filled with fast food and video games - there wasn’t room for anything else. He wanted to get into shape, but could never stick with any exercise plans. After his first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class, he discovered something he could really enjoy - everyone was welcoming and helpful. His training started with two sessions a week, but his body could barely handle the intensity; just getting through the warmup exercises was a monumental effort. He had to take frequent breaks during class, but he didn't quit and he slowly increased the frequency of training as he became more accustomed to training.
Over the next year, he applied the philosophies he learned through Jiu-Jitsu in his everyday life. He saw vast improvements in all areas. After a year of training, he started slimming down and training with tournament competition in mind. He underwent dietary changes, conditioning and weight training to achieve a new goal to compete and train hard. By his second year, he was fully hooked - he competed in several tournaments, attended the annual Brazil-021 training camp and made friends all over the world. Since then, he has earned several titles in high-level competition and fought at the world stage. Additionally, he has been leading class as a regular instructor since 2015.
Everyday he feels thankful and lucky to have found his new home with Brazil-021 and be healthy enough to continue training. He looks forward the years to come and continuing to enjoy his journey alongside Professor Marcos and all of his other teammates.
